sunset on hindley st
Maybe a week ago, leaving the mall and about to walk along Hindley St towards something and being stopped by the lights, Adelaide, city of red lights, and the guttering sun burning the face of the Colonial Mutual Life building, it floated in the blue void, I wanted to climb it and wished it was a thousand stories high, to be warmed beside its unreachable gargoyles while you were lost far below in the the chill gloom of the street.

the weird horizontal crack on the south face through the building name that is dark from i guess water leaking intrigues me, i want to go and see wht it looks like close up, yes and the gargoyles…
other favourite is the high modern building on the north-east corner of victoria square with the beautiful ironwork on the lower couple of floor then white marble or something facing the remainder, but the real joy in it is the graceful slight concaves on the front and rear faces offset by the floating roof of the penthouse. i wanna live there.

yo, the colonial mutual life building is my favourite in adelaide, it has so many details and embellishments. Those little gargoyles holding up the railings with their tongues are pure gold. there's also a big 'C' on the other side that intrigues me. I have spent many an hour pondering this building i'm glad to find a fellow admirer ;)
